Anba Michael, Bishop of the Diocese of Helwan, Al-Maasara, and its dependencies, presided over a Divine Liturgy to mark the opening of the third academic year at Helwan Theological School, according to Al-Dostor. The event, which took place at the ancient church in the Monastery of Saint Anba Barsoum Al-Aryan in Al-Maasara, included the reception of a new cohort known as the cohort of Pope Youannes XIX.

Academic celebrations

During the ceremony, Anba Michael honored the top students from the first and second years to recognize their academic excellence and efforts over the past year, Youm7 reported.

Al-Dostor stated that priests, members of the college council, faculty members, the choir of deacons, college students, and the nuns of Anba Barsoum Monastery participated in the Liturgy.

School inspections

Following the liturgy, Anba Michael conducted an inspection tour of the lecture halls and classrooms. This tour was intended to oversee the progress of the educational process and student regularity at the start of the new year, as well as to ensure the provision of resources for scientific and spiritual benefit, according to Youm7. The study system at Helwan Theological School lasts for four academic years, which leads to a Bachelor of Theology degree.
