The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 31 October 2026 that Bishop Claudio Loreti, Bishop of the Latin Church in Egypt, received the relics of Pope Saint John Paul II and Saint Faustina. The reception was requested by members of the Polish community in Cairo, and the relics are to be kept inside the Latin Bishopric headquarters church in Heliopolis, the church said.

The Polish community celebrated the sixth anniversary of the Bishop's episcopal ordination during the event. The community presented Bishop Claudio Loreti with a commemorative gift containing icons of the two saints as an expression of their love and appreciation for his pastoral service, the church said.

The celebration included the rite of receiving the relics, the blessing of attendees with the relics, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer. The celebration included the Divine Liturgy in Polish, the church said.
