The Most Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of Alexandria for the Episcopal Anglican Province of Alexandria, presided over a “Prayer and Praise” meeting at All Saints’ Episcopal Cathedral in Zamalek, according to the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria and Al-Dostor.
Spiritual Revival
The Archbishop addressed the concept of spiritual revival through three stages. He explained that revival begins with a sincere cry to God and an acknowledgment of humanity’s need for Him. He stated that revival does not begin by claiming everything is fine, but by acknowledging the need for God and trusting that He hears prayers.
According to the Archbishop, revival grows as people wait for God in faith. He noted that waiting is a spiritual practice grounded in persistent prayer and returning to the Holy Scriptures, rather than laziness or despair. He emphasized that faith means trusting God even before seeing the answers to prayers.
The Archbishop said that spiritual revival is the work of God, who gives life, rather than a human project or a program organized by the Church. He added that true revival means allowing Christ to live in hearts, homes, and churches.
The Archbishop concluded his sermon by praying for the renewal of churches, homes, and young people. He also prayed for Egypt and its people, as well as for church ministries and those serving in them. He asked God to bless every ministry and grant everyone the faith, hope, and strength to continue serving others.
