The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 2 November 2026 that Bishop Jean Marie Chami, Patriarchal Vicar General for the Melkite Greek Catholics in Egypt, Sudan, and South Sudan, and official of the Episcopal Committee for Apostolic Activities in the Catholic Church in Egypt, participated in the annual celebration of the Abu al-Hol (Sphinx) Scout Group, Saint Cyril Group.

The meeting celebrated the 28th anniversary of the group's founding at the Melkite Greek Catholic Saint Cyril Church in Cairo. The church said the celebration adopted the slogan “Ready for Life,” aiming to renew the call for the group to be ready for adventure, acceptance, peace, fun, cooperation, change, and uniqueness.

During the event, the Bishop called on male and female leaders, scouts, and guides to be builders of a civilization of love and hope. The Bishop said they should write the history of the future through their faith, giving, and commitment to their scouting and humanitarian mission by carrying the values of love, service, and responsibility.
