The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 2 November 2026 that Bishop Jean Marie Chami, Patriarchal Vicar General for the Melkite Greek Catholics in Egypt, Sudan, and South Sudan, and head of the Episcopal Committee for Apostolic Activities in the Catholic Church in Egypt, participated in the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the founding of the 7th Wadi El Nil Scouts and Guides Group.

The Bishop presided over the Divine Liturgy with the participation of group members at Saint Michael's Church, Resurrection Cathedral, in El Daher, and participated in the jubilee ceremony at the group's headquarters at De La Salle (Frères) School in El Daher, according to the church.

In a message to the group published in a scouting magazine, the Bishop called on members to ensure their service is modeled after Jesus Christ, the teacher and role model of every Christian, by listening attentively, receiving others with love, remaining faithful to promises and commitments, being patient in tribulations, and persevering in effort, the church said.

The Patriarchal Vicar General extended greetings and thanks to the pioneers and former scouts who founded the movement and to those who continue to serve the scouting movement with sincerity, the church said. The celebration serves to emphasize that the scouting movement is a renewed calling and church mission to build the human person and develop the spirit of service, belonging, and giving on the path of Christian love and hope, rather than just a procession of years and achievements, the church said.
