The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 28 October 2026 that Pope Tawadros II met with the priests of the Ain Shams, Matareya and Helmiyat al-Zaitun sector and their families. The meeting followed his weekly Wednesday meeting and took place in the presence of Anba Olugios, the General Bishop of the sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, Anba Olugios expressed thanks to the Pope for his interest in checking on the priests and their families and for his periodic meetings with them, the church said.

The priests and their wives asked the Pope a number of questions regarding service and pastoral work, which he answered, according to the church.

Following the meeting, the Pope distributed souvenirs to those present, and a commemorative photo was taken of the priests with the Pope, followed by the priests' wives joining the photo, the church said.
