The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 30 October 2026 that Pope Tawadros II honored high school excellence among children of the pastoral sectors' churches in Cairo.
A special ceremony was held at Saint Mark's Cathedral in Abbassia for more than 400 male and female high achievers who obtained 90% and above, the church said.
Pope Tawadros II said that everyone rejoices in the students' success and excellence, and that success yields fruits for their home, church, and society. The Pope said that the top achievers from many Cairo churches are being honored for the first time, noting that academic success results from faithfulness, excellence, commitment, and order in work.
General Bishop H.G. Anba Raphael delivered a speech on behalf of the General Bishops in Cairo, according to the church. During the ceremony, the Ava Tawadros Choir from the Diocese of Beba, El Fashn, and Samast performed several hymns. Student Heaven Bahaa from the Old Cairo churches sector and student Irene Raymond from the South Shubra churches sector delivered speeches on behalf of students, while Michael Samir from the New Cities churches sector spoke for the parents. A film was also shown featuring the experiences and lessons learned by the high-achieving students during high school.
