Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Isaac presides over liturgy in Alexandria, church says
The Patriarch consecrated a baptismal icon and conferred the rank of psalmist upon several new deacons, the Catholic Church in Egypt said.
The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 8 September 2026 that Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Isaac, Patriarch of Alexandria of the Coptic Catholics, presided over a celebratory Divine Liturgy at the Resurrection Cathedral in Alexandria on 7 September 2026.
According to the church, the Patriarch conferred the rank of psalmist upon several new deacons and consecrated a baptismal icon during the service. The Patriarch noted that faith must be reflected in a person's daily life through behavior, choices, and continuous growth in spiritual life, rather than being limited to celebrating occasions and rituals.
The Patriarch emphasized that these spiritual celebrations are important in the faith journey of those being celebrated and noted the role of the family in accompanying them and helping them grow in their relationship with God, the church said. Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Isaac also distributed souvenirs to the sons and daughters being celebrated and took commemorative photos with them.
Participants in the prayer included Hegumen Francis Murad, General Vicar of the Coptic Catholic Patriarchate in Alexandria; Father Francis Wahid, a pastor of the cathedral; Father Yousef Mohareb, a pastor of the cathedral; Father Youhanna Abadir, pastor of Saint Anne Church in Alexandria; and Father Antonios Khalil, the church said.
