The Latin Church in Egypt celebrated the first centenary of World Mission Sunday through two celebrations in Cairo and Alexandria, according to Al-Dostor and Youm7.

Organized by the Chancery's Missions Office, the events were held under the theme "One in Christ, United in Mission." The first celebration took place at the Basilica of Our Lady in Heliopolis, where Monsignor Antoine Tawfiq, the Vicar General of the Latin Church in Egypt, presided over the Divine Liturgy. The second celebration was hosted at Saint Catherine's Cathedral in Alexandria and was presided over by Bishop Claudio Loretti.

Program and participants

The program for the celebrations included listening to a message from His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, meetings, and life testimonies from missionaries. An exhibition was also opened to review the history and activities of missions in Egypt, focusing on their pastoral and social roles in serving the Church and Egyptian society. The events were attended by priests, monks, nuns, and Church members of various nationalities and parishes.

According to Al-Dostor, the Chancery expressed gratitude to several contributors, including African missionary fathers Father Polan and Father Pavel, as well as Father Nabil Aziz, the superior, and Father Milad Rizq, the cathedral pastor. The celebrations concluded with congratulations to Bishop Claudio Loretti, a Comboni missionary, regarding his upcoming sixth anniversary of episcopal ordination.
