Catholic Church in Egypt says Minya Coptic Catholic Diocese welcomed relics
Anba Basilios Fawzy presided over a Mass at Jesus the King Cathedral to welcome the relics, the church said.
The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 26 October 2026 that Anba Basilios Fawzy, Bishop of the Minya Coptic Catholic Diocese, presided over a Mass to welcome the relics of Saint Charbel and Blessed Margherita Chianni at Jesus the King Cathedral in Minya.
According to the church, Blessed Margherita Chianni was the founder of the Little Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Father Kyrillos Maximus and Father Yohanna Samuel, pastors of the Cathedral, and Father Andreas Farag, pastor of Saint Mark's Church in Sydney, Australia, participated in the prayer.
Anba Basilios Fawzy delivered a Divine Liturgy sermon titled “A Call to Holiness,” stating that the presence of the relics of saints is a divine gift to the parish and an encouragement to emulate their lives. The bishop said holiness is achievable for those who interact with the grace of God.
