The Catholic Church in Egypt reported that Pope Francis stated in a speech on the Global Compact on Education that education should place the human being at the center to help them grow in mind, conscience, freedom, responsibility, and relationships.

According to the report, Pope Leo XIV emphasized that the human being must remain at the heart of the educational process and that knowledge must serve the human being and their good. The church said Pope Leo XIV also emphasized the importance of continuous formation for teachers due to changing educational challenges and the need for teachers to have listening hearts and discerning minds.

The church said that education occurs through one's being before it occurs through words. It noted that a good teacher is someone who is ready to learn, develops themselves, changes methods when necessary, and learns from students.

The Catholic Church in Egypt said that technology should not be feared as it can be a great tool for science, work, and education, but children must be helped to use it with wisdom and freedom so it does not control them. The church said that machines can provide answers but cannot decide what is truth, good, or worth searching for in life on behalf of humans.
