The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 29 September 2026 that the theme for the new pastoral year is “The Sacraments of Christian Upbringing”. According to the church, this theme focuses on Baptism, Chrismation, and the Eucharist. The church noted that the theme of the previous year was the Holy Spirit and the renewal of the Church.

The church said that in Baptism, God brings people into the death and resurrection of Christ and gives them a new identity as children of God. It said that in the Sacrament of Chrismation, people receive the Holy Spirit to strengthen them and enable them to witness for Christ. The church also said that all have been baptized, received the Holy Spirit, and are called to live from the Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Christ.

The church said that the family holds a responsibility that cannot be replaced. It said the Church is called to be a mother that accompanies rather than just teaches, supports rather than just asks, and helps heal wounds rather than just judging them.
