Bishop Jean Marie Chamieh speaks at Wadi El Nil Scouts and Guides jubilee, church says
The celebration of seventy-five years of a parish scouting movement is more than just commemorating a date or reviewing history, Bishop Jean Marie Chamieh said.
The Catholic Church in Egypt reported on 2 November 2026 that Bishop Jean Marie Chamieh, Patriarchal Vicar General for the Melkite Greek Catholics in Egypt, Sudan, and South Sudan and an official of the Episcopal Committee for Apostolic Activities in the Catholic Church in Egypt, delivered a speech during the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the founding of the 7th Group of Wadi El Nil Scouts and Guides.
Bishop Jean Marie Chamieh said the celebration of seventy-five years of a parish scouting movement is more than just commemorating a date or reviewing history. He said seventy-five years of history serve as a living testimony for those who followed the journey, rather than just a memory for founders and early pioneers, with each person laying a stone in the building of a collective work.
