The meeting included a report on academic work for the 2025–2026 year and new regulations for postgraduate studies, the church said.
The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 16 October 2026 that Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and President of the Supreme Council of Theological Colleges and Church Institutes, met with members of the Central Committee for Postgraduate Studies at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo on 16 October 2026.
The committee, which is a committee of the Coptic St. Mark Academy, presented a report regarding its work for the 2025–2026 academic year, according to the church. This report covered the preparation of regulations for the Postgraduate Studies Committee and the follow-up of registration, supervision, and discussion of scientific theses. The committee also presented a plan for the upcoming period to continue developing academic programs based on approved standards.
At the end of the meeting, the committee gave the Pope a copy of regulations for the committee's work with theological colleges and church institutes, the church said. These regulations aim to unify postgraduate procedures between the Academy, colleges, and institutes and to regulate researcher registration, thesis registration, supervision, discussion, and the awarding of academic degrees. During the presentation, the Pope provided directives to be observed and implemented.
