The Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center said on 3 September 2026 that the 11th International Conference of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World took place in Cairo. The conference featured the participation of His Grace Anba Ermia, who is the President of the Center, according to the statement.

The conference discussed the theme “Family Challenges in Light of Major Transformations: A Fatwa Approach to Protecting the Family, Forecasting its Future, and Preserving Identity.” The discussions involved scholars, muftis, and researchers from various countries to address family issues related to rapid social, cultural, economic, and technological changes. The center said the event focused on challenges to family cohesion and the preservation of identity.

According to the statement, conference themes included the Maqasid-based grounding of the family, the impact of digital and technical transformations on family life, and the impact of intellectual currents and the globalization of values on family identity. Participants also discussed the role of religious and fatwa institutions in managing family crises, as well as the economic, social, and psychological implications of current transformations.

The center said the conference aimed to provide approaches to protect family stability, develop mechanisms for dealing with rapid changes, and forecast the future of family identity and values. The activities included representatives from religious, intellectual, and scientific institutions to discuss family, society, and identity.
