# Pope Tawadros II discusses the law of preserving the gift, church says

The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 4 November 2026 that Pope Tawadros II delivered a weekly sermon from the Papal Headquarters in Cairo. The sermon was given to church clergy, priests, service leaders of the Virgin Mary Church in Zeitoun, and their families, the church said.

During the sermon, Pope Tawadros II continued the “Spiritual Laws for Life” series by speaking on the “Law of Preserving the Gift” and reading from 1 Timothy 4:12–16, the church said. The sermon was broadcast on Christian satellite channels and the C.O.C. channel of the Church's media center on the internet.

Pope Tawadros II explained the distinction between three terms, defining the Gift (Atiyya) as what God gives to man, the Talent (Mawhiba) as something God gives for a specific work, and the Talent/Talent (Wazna) as capabilities given by God, such as time, the church said. The Pope said that preserving a talent involves discovering it, regardless of how small it may be.

Pope Tawadros II warned that neglecting a talent can occur through habituation, citing the example of Eli's sons who lost reverence for holy things, the church said. The Pope recommended renewing the fervor of a talent through personal prayer, following the example of Moses, the church said.
