# Pope Tawadros II discusses the law of example, church says

The Pope spoke about the importance of being an example in faith, purity, and love during a meeting in Cairo, the church said.

The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 21 October 2026 that Pope Tawadros II delivered a weekly sermon from the Papal Headquarters in Cairo. The meeting included church clergy, priests from the Ezbet El Nakhl sector, and their wives, according to the church. The sermon was broadcast on Christian satellite channels and the C.O.C. channel of the Church Media Center on the internet.

He read verses 6–16 of the fourth chapter of the first epistle of Paul the Apostle to Timothy. The Pope said that a priest must be a teaching and serving example, noting that his teaching and service must be supported by example. He explained that an example is an influential factor that possesses blessings.

Pope Tawadros II stated that Christ provided an outward example of humility by washing the disciples' feet and an inward example through love. He recommended being an example in small situations, such as during anger or when apologizing for mistakes. The Pope said that a priest's decisions affect the lives of others and that the world needs priests to be examples in speech, behavior, love, spirit, faith, and purity.

Regarding faith, the Pope said to be an example in both difficult and small matters. He also said to be an example in purity in relationships, dealings, and meetings, whether in the church, the home, or among the young and old. The Pope stated that a successful example attracts people to Christ rather than to an individual and provides a model for others to become examples themselves. Finally, the church said the Pope noted that the value of an example is that it continues even after a person has passed away.
