# Pope Tawadros II discusses the law of example, church says

The Pope addressed six fields of example, focusing on speech and conduct during his weekly sermon, the Coptic Orthodox Church said.

The Coptic Orthodox Church said on 14 October 2026 that Pope Tawadros II delivered a weekly sermon from the Papal Headquarters in Cairo. The sermon was attended by church clergy, priests from the Al-Salam and Al-Harrfiyin sectors, and their wives. The address was broadcast on Christian satellite channels and the C.O.C. channel on the internet.

He said that service involves teaching and example, noting three levels of service: a teacher who transfers knowledge, a servant who offers work, and an exemplary servant who offers his life as a testimony for Christ. The Pope indicated that it is best for these three levels to be gathered in the person of the servant.

The Pope said that example means a model and that every servant and priest is a model in his church. He stated that the word "Abouna" is key to the survival and strength of the church. He also said that example involves continuous growth and an attempt to resemble the saints to add to the soul.

According to the church, Pope Tawadros II addressed six fields for example: speech, conduct, love, spirit, faith, and purity. He divided them into two groups: two are evident outwardly, specifically speech and conduct, while the other four are evident within the servant or teacher. The Pope focused his talk on speech and conduct, stating that speech should be constructive, involve controlling anger, preserve the dignity of others, and encourage people.
