The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 15 September 2026 that His Grace Anba Bishara Gouda, Bishop of the Abu Qurqas, Mallawi, and Deir Mawas Diocese for Coptic Catholics, presided over a celebratory Communion Mass for several sons and daughters of the Church of the Virgin Mary in Al-Badraman.

According to the report, the Bishop delivered a Divine Liturgy sermon titled “Saint John the Baptist as a model for living faithfulness, truth, and preaching the Word”. The Bishop emphasized that the greatness of Saint John the Baptist lies in his fulfillment of God's will and exhorted those being celebrated and all present to remain united with the Lord Jesus Christ through Holy Sacraments and Bible meditation, the church said.

Parish priests Father Stephanous Ghattas and Father Yousef Adel participated in the prayer in the presence of nuns, the church said. The Bishop of the Diocese also held a paternal dialogue with the sons and daughters of the celebratory Communion, distributed souvenirs, took commemorative photos, and honored male and female graduates of various educational stages in the parish.
