The Catholic Church in Egypt said on 19 October 2026 that His Grace Anba Bishara Gouda, Bishop of the Abu Qurqas, Mallawi, and Deir Mawas Diocese for Coptic Catholics, met with the religious sisters in the diocese at the bishopric headquarters.

According to the church, the day began with the Divine Liturgy, during which the Bishop delivered a sermon on the Divine Sacrifice. The Bishop advised the religious sisters to be role models for humanity through love and abundant giving, and expressed thanks, appreciation, and gratitude for their service to the Church. The church said the Bishop emphasized the necessity for them to be instruments of good, peace, and love, and witnesses to the Gospel for the spreading of the Kingdom of God.

The meeting also included a speech by Father Michael William titled “Consecrated Life in Light of the Words of Christ on the Cross.” The church said Father Michael William noted that Christ is the perfect example of consecrated life for every consecrated person to emulate and learn from. He said that Christ's words on the Cross summarize His life and teachings, providing a renewed call to offer His love and mercy to all in word and deed.

The religious sisters participated in working groups and discussions on the topic of the meeting to deepen their understanding of their spiritual and pastoral mission, the church said. The church said His Grace Anba Bishara Gouda concluded the meeting with some pastoral recommendations.
